NINA D is a Scandi homeware business founded by Swedish born Artist Nina Daniels. Her luxurious hand illustrated hand handmade tableware products are inspired by her personal upbringing and family traditions, bringing them alive with energy and light. My personal connection is represented in my art through colours and texture, often resulting in shapes and patterns.

My name is Nina and I am the founder of NINA D homeware, which is inspired by my Swedish upbringing and family traditions. I have established a customer base who appreciate unique designs on sustainable and high quality products for their homes.

Prior to launching my business, I studied Theatre Design at Wimbledon School of Art in London, followed by a successful career within luxury retail working for the following brands Burberry, Asprey and De Beers Diamond Jewellers. Where I was employed within the global marketing departments to conceptualise and design store layouts and window presentations.

In 2019 I began creating designs for tableware drawing upon my Scandinavian influences and the high quality craftsmanship of heritage brands. Each design in the collection is inspired by a place or a person close to my heart back home in Sweden. My personal connection is represented in my art through colours and texture, often resulting in shapes and patterns. During my design degree, I made the decision to always create my art by hand using watercolour on carefully selected paper and have not once tweaked my artwork with a computer. I discovered my passion in creating depth by layering to produce a striking two dimensional effect. I take great pride in the personal working relationship that I have established with manufacturers in the UK and Europe. To ensure the hand created details of my work are maintained, as well as knowing that the materials used are ethical and sustainable.

My placemats and coasters are handmade in Britain with a substantial 0.5mm eucalyptus board and non slip cork backing. The top coating over the printed design is a gloss melamine which is heat and scratch resistant. The serving trays are handmade in Sweden by the renowned tray manufacturer Åry Trays using sheets of FSC®-certified birch veneer with the artwork protected by a laminated melamine-based surface, making the trays heat resistant up to 130 degrees Celsius. To complete my range, I offer handmade table linen, ethically made using 100% flax linen with a hand embroidered logo.

In tandem with my homeware products, I design bespoke tableware for private and corporate customers, helping formulate a brief through to a production run. Or project manage the requirements of individual clients, such as the prompt delivery of 600 handcrafted placemats for Flora Soames wedding reception in Norfolk.

I am honoured to be a Finalist in the 2023 Enterprise Vision Awards ‘Creative Industry’ and named as one of the UK’s most inspirational and dynamic female entrepreneurs by the f:Entrepreneur #ialso100 campaign 2023.
