My practice revolves around the idea of labour intensity, often in a highly gendered context. I work mainly in mark making and textiles but also use writing to inform and underpin my practice.

I grew up in the heart of the textile industry, and spent many childhood days playing amongst the derelict mills that are our heritage. After travelling extensively, I was drawn back by the rugged and remote beauty of the Pennines. My passion is capturing the drama of our landscape, its social and industrial heritage and the lives of the people who lived and worked here then and now.

Gino Parisi has a passion for all things creative, channelling creative energy in order to manifest thought provoking artwork. ”When I look at a painting that I have finished, I have no idea how I did it and I wouldn’t be able to repaint it, I have no idea where it came from. I have the sense that it has come from something apart from me.” - Gino Parisi

Nesta Pilkington is the working name of Suzy Maxwell MA (Falmouth 2006). A main concept of the work is a love of animals, who they are and how they touch our lives. Where we and they 'meet' is a sort of cross-species connection. It is a spiritual connection and when they inevitably die, we feel it as an unbelievably deep loss. The sculptures are an interpretation of this inter-relationship.

I started working with black communities in the beginning because I felt that when members of the black community were engaged in my work, I could claim the title of visual artist. I see my work as an intervention into spaces of intergenerational wealth created by triangular trade. I also see the work as claiming and occupying space that is raced white for people of colour.
