Noel Hensey Ireland
My name is Noel Hensey (b. Dublin), I currently live and work in Co. Kildare, Ireland. I am a graduate of both the PG Dip and MA Fine Art courses from Chelsea College of Arts, London. I am a multi-award winning artist who has exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally.
My art practice is multi-disciplinary conceptual art and includes; photography, sculpture, sound, video and installation.
The practice is concerned with philosophical explorations, balanced with some humour. More specifically, the practice is concerned with ’spatiality’ and more precisely; it’s a concern with mental over physical space. The motivation for the practice is to change and liberate any obscuration’s (cognitive or emotional) to this space.
Points of departure in my working process include; drawing, photography, and the collection of found imagery and objects. This initial work is stored in both physical and digital archives, and it is from these archives that work is filtered into more finished work. I use methods that complement the theoretical framework of the practice including, appropriation (specifically re-contextualisation), interchanging mediums, and site-specific work.
The practice is inspired by various and diverse subjects including; the practice of meditation, stand-up comedy and by post-pop and conceptual art – specifically the work of Marcel Duchamp.
