Ping Kelly West Yorkshire, United Kingdom
I am a Bradford based Chinese artist, a graduate of Yunnan Arts University in Kunming where I also qualified as a teacher. Although my personal preference is for abstract painting in oils, after taking up residence in The UK, I further developed my skills as a portrait painter. More recently, I was inspired to create landscapes after securing temporary studio space in Bradford city centre.
I have exhibited work at several venues throughout Yorkshire as well as internationally and am included in Not Just Hockney, an illustrated guide to professional visual artists in the Bradford district. I have had work on display at the Digital Exchange in Bradford, where I exhibited a series of paintings entitled “Broadway” depicting the construction of Bradford’s newest retail complex. From a bird’s eye view, I marked its transformation from an unsightly hole in the city centre into a magnificent, new and vibrant addition to Bradford’s industrial and commercial heritage.
A portrait of the shrewd 18th century entrepreneur, Betty Beecroft, was commissioned by Leeds Industrial Museum and was on display at the Leeds to innovation exhibition
