Rowan Bridgwood United Kingdom
  Back to profiles

Rowan is a textile artist based in West Yorkshire. She draws inspiration from folklore and the natural world to create embroidered pieces full of narrative and meaning. By meticulously hand stitching onto inherited and reclaimed fabrics, Rowan breathes new life and new stories into materials steeped in history and memory.

Rowan's pieces weave together nature, folklore and literary fragments to create contemporary embroidered art. She utilises traditional techniques, inherited thread and reclaimed fabrics to at once celebrate and subvert the heritage of her medium.

Her work has been exhibited throughout the North, including The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair, Home, Platform Gallery and Heart Gallery.

Passionate about fostering artistic community, Rowan also co-runs Thread Collective, regular stitch socials and workshops held throughout the North.
