Roxy is a Bristol-based artist working under Bark & Grain, creating meditative geometric mark-making with gold leaf on found natural materials — bark, paper, and canvas. Drawing on over 20 years in art and architectural design, her practice explores flow state and stillness through precise, repetitive form. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at 13B Gallery, Slovenia.

PHILOSOPHY At its core, my work is an attempt to capture breath. Each piece emerges from a slow, repetitive process built by hand, mark by mark, and the making itself becomes a deliberate space to breathe. I think of it as geometry with a heartbeat: structured, but made by hand and breath rather than machine.

STORY That came out of necessity: after years of working at pace, I was forced to slow down, and the work grew directly out of learning to pause, and to embrace being present. The work evolved from an earlier practice in urban photography and digital collage, and draws on over 20 years working across art and architectural design.

MATERIALS & PROCESS I work in ink and acrylic, often gold, on found natural materials — mainly bark sourced from Tyntesfield, alongside paper and canvas. Each piece of bark is sanded, then stabilised and sealed with acrylic and resin. It is a fragile found object that would otherwise erode away — preserved with its history and the hardship of its years still visible in the surface, and treated like a jewel.
