Ruth Egon is a contemporary painter whose work explores resilience, natural abundance, and the emotional impact of place. Raised in the post-industrial landscape of Walsall in the West Midlands, she draws inspiration from both the grit of urban decay and the restorative beauty of nature. Egon studied art at Walsall College, where encounters with the bold colour of David Hockney and the atmospheric intensity of Van Gogh shaped her early visual language.

Working primarily in oil, she builds layered, intuitive surfaces that evoke time passing, environmental change, and the delicate balance between fragility and strength. Her paintings celebrate colour, movement, and organic forms while also hinting at social history and overlooked narratives. Grounded in a working-class perspective, Egon seeks to uplift, offering viewers a sense of hope, connection, and possibility through her vibrant, nature-driven practice.
