I am a Yorkshire lass from Barnsley. I recently graduated from Hull with a fine art degree. I have immersed myself in creativity to cope with a long term illness fibromyalgia. Using open water swimming and the combination of a fibre arts based creative practice has seen i through difficult times.
I have used many forms of creativity but in the last year have settled into using yarn and textiles. I have begun spinning my own yarnscape to create specific colour and textures in my work. The love of the sea influences my work. It’s the only time my fibromyalgia doesn’t hurt when I am in water. I create pieces that at a glance looks like abstract paintings. On a second look they made from hand spun yarn.
