Sean Azzopardi United Kingdom
Printmaker and cartoonist.
Sean Azzopardi – Artist Profile Sean Azzopardi is a UK-based artist, cartoonist, and independent publisher working under the Phatcomics and PhatPrint Books imprints. With over two decades of experience in autobiographical and narrative comics, his work explores personal memory, health, and everyday surrealism through a deeply human lens. Azzopardi’s distinct approach blends traditional drawing, collage, sculpture, and digital media, often pushing the boundaries of comic storytelling.
His self-published series Life’s a Party spans 14 issues and over 400 pages, chronicling life with rawness, humour, and insight. He has exhibited widely in solo and group shows and regularly runs workshops on zine-making, printmaking, and comic creation. As a printmaker and former artist-in-residence at Hull Central Library Makerspace, he has developed a practice that fuses comics with tactile processes such as screen printing, letterpress, and risograph, producing limited-edition artworks and community-driven publications.
In 2025, he launched PhatPrint Books, formalising his publishing efforts with ISBN-registered titles and a renewed focus on connecting with readers beyond the comics mainstream. Whether through gallery installations, screen-printed zines, or spoken word performance, Sean’s work asks the central question: Do you know who you are?
