Having worked with photography and cinema production, as well as different media and areas of painting, from porcelain to textiles, for over 25 years my art has been expressed in painting silks and photographing instants in the development of the painting process. My painted silks are the object of compositions and landscapes.
I have been so fortunate to find a place to call home which is framed by a huge Indian tree and the sunrise, in the east window, and right across from it there are more trees from a nearby park and the sunset through and around them to complete a sort of meditative state where ideas and art practice take shape and, hopefully, mature to flow onto silks or paper, textiles or even canvas. There is a line of work that could be called fashion design and colour studies, but there is also the instinctive, yet disciplined, flow that may be fully expressed within a day or two, but which may also rest for weeks or months, years, until the right touch, solution or materials are defined before my voice has been expressed. My art work involves more studying, learning, observing and experimenting until I am satisfied that a larger project can be started with a little more confidence.
