Vivienne Netherwood Merseyside, United Kingdom
Following an NHS career, I have developed my practice through online classes, in person workshops and self-directed study. This has led to a keen interest in print making, zine making and urban sketching. My work is always evolving and currently focuses on printmaking techniques, especially lino prints which are hand coloured with watercolour.
Following a career in Laboratory medicine and computing, I started out as a textile artist. Since 2022 I have developed my practice through online classes, in person workshops and self-directed study. This has led to a keen interest in print making, zine making and urban sketching. My work has been widely exhibited around the region and further afield. I regularly participate in the Wirral Open Studio Tour, am a Dot-Art artist, an urban sketcher and attend Liverpool Independent Art School print club. My work is always evolving and currently focuses on printmaking techniques, especially lino prints which are hand coloured with watercolour. I love to experiment with a variety of printing techniques such as alternative lithography, drypoint and copper etching, monoprinting and paste papers. I love exploring the way my lino cuts convey a sense of movement and being in the landscape both urban and rural. The contrast of strong printed marks with subdued colour has become my signature style and draws on my approach to mark making. My inspiration stems from my connection to the local landscapes and buildings.
