    Sarah McAlister graduated with MA Textiles from The University for the Creative Arts in 2024 and focuses her practice on re-using found materials. Her work is made in response to places and events she has experienced. Her ethos as a textile artist is to recycle, re-use and re-purpose existing resources meaning that her pieces are made entirely from found objects and fabrics.

    I am a painter who is interested in people, places, objects and groups in society. My role as a teacher informs my work and I often respond to my immediate environment.     I am a teacher of Geography and until a few years ago I never thought I had a creative bone in my body. I then discovered wood turning and the joy of shaping wood as if it was clay. I have rapidly moved away from traditional wood turning and like to use a variety of non-traditional wood and different materials that enhance the wood. I like form and shape inspired by nature.

    Born in Japan. BA in Fine Art Tokyo University of Art and Design. MA in Fine Art Sculpture Chelsea School of Art. Based in London, exhibiting internationally. Homma is one of the directors of Art in the Nuclear Age, a Trust member of Morphe Arts and a core steering team member of Brockley Open Studios. Homma is also a long-standing Associate Lecturer at the University of Arts London.
