MINA, Wilhelmina Odoley Quaynor, is a Ghanaian-born contemporary heritage and landscape artist based in London. Working in oils and acrylics with brushes and palette knives, she explores memory, identity, architecture and cultural connection through atmospheric paintings inspired by places she has visited, experienced and remembered.
I am a Ghanaian-born Contemporary Heritage and Landscape Artist based in London. I work in both oil and acrylic paint, using painting brushes and palette knives to build layered surfaces, expressive marks and atmospheric compositions.
My earlier body of work, created before my India period, was painted in oils. My later practice expanded to include acrylics, allowing me to explore colour, light, movement and texture in new ways while continuing to draw on the depth and richness of oil painting.
My practice explores heritage, memory, identity and cultural connection through the places I have visited, experienced and remembered. Architecture, monuments, landscapes and everyday environments become carriers of history, emotion and personal experience within my paintings.
My work is inspired by locations across Ghana, India, the United Kingdom, Dubai, Venice and other international settings that have shaped my artistic journey. Light, reflections, water, skies and architectural forms are recurring elements, helping me examine how the past remains visible within the present and how places can hold both individual and collective memory.
My collections include the Indian Heritage Collection, Ghana Heritage Scroll Collection, International Heritage works, Atmospheric Landscapes and more personal explorations such as the Aspects of Love series. Through these works, I aim to create visual narratives that encourage recognition, reflection and connection across cultures.
My wider artistic philosophy is expressed through the idea: “Time Past, Reflected in Time Present.”
