Emma Bevan-Henderson Monmouthshire, United Kingdom
I live in the Bannau Brycheiniog, working as an artist, curator and tutor. My family has a log history in artistic and healing practices, and I am very happy to be ableto continue these traditions as an artist and facilitator. My work is influencedby cycles, seasons and stories, as well as the Welsh mountains surrounding me, and the ancient stories that they hold.
In my creative practice, I work in textiles, and in clay, creating various series of works, releasing the materials' innate healing properties. This enables me to process my experiences, sometimes more easily expressed through making. These themes can refer to my personal narrative, as well as the stories of our societies, both local and global. There may be repetitive mark making and symbols in soem series, or there are sometimes more individualised shapes and expressions.
One of my passions is to facilitate the raising of womens' voices, whether through my own work or the collaborative projects I run in the community; the latter are usually based on textile pieces.
