Yewbowart United Kingdom
Yewbowart (Yvonne Cavens) is a Scottish artist born in Dumfries in 1972. A self-taught creative from a young age, she began drawing horses in oil paints and pastels as a child, developing a deep, intuitive connection with visual storytelling. Her work now blends abstract realism with a touch of whimsy, often inspired by the landscapes, heritage, and spirit of Scotland.
Art is the voice of my soul thats why I create Art.
I make art that is timeless—work that resists the noise of passing trends and reaches for something more lasting and inward.
Using materials like collage, I build my paintings layer by layer, allowing new forms to emerge from fragments and texture. Birds often appear in my work, not just as symbols of freedom or fragility, but as quiet messengers—bridging earth and sky, thought and feeling. I’m drawn to the surreal and the poetic, especially the strange beauty of unusual words. Sometimes a single phrase can unlock an entire painting.
Though my style blends abstraction with figuration, my aim is always to make the work feel alive—to hold presence, breath, and a pulse. At the same time, I explore a deep sense of stillness: moments of pause, softness, and subtle tension. My art is about feeling as much as seeing.
As Yewbowart, I invite the viewer to slow down, notice the small details, and step gently into a world that sits just slightly beside the ordinary
