    I'm Lucy, an artist based in Derby. I love to paint realistically in oils and acrylic, and dabble in mixed media. Nature is a huge source of inspiration and I also find challenging but rewarding to paint portraits and attempt to capture someone's personality in the painting.

    With an eye for intricate detail and curiosity for pre-owned items, my work focuses on how an object evokes personal comfort through recognition and familiarity. Inspired by everyday objects that often go unnoticed, from matchsticks to hook-and eye fastenings, I create handcrafted jewellery and personal possessions, some of which are wearable and others merely companions to our everyday lives.

    My practice is one of continuous transition & evolution. My current paintings explore ideas around the passing of time; the repetitive brush marks act as a visual representation of transience - counting out moments one by one. By repeating & building layers of marks, they create a pattern. The pattern, in turn, forms rhythmic motifs and forms that can be read as macro or micro views of the world.

    Im a graphic designer by trade, having spent many years working in print, advertising and display. I trained in Graphic Design at the Kacob Kramer School in the late 70s. I set up Jagger Studio to promote my Lino prints. I am based in Guiseley, Leeds and currently creating lino print images.
