  Back to profiles

Adele studied for her B. A. (Hons) Degree in Textile Art at Winchester School of Art. After a short spell working for an interior magazine in London she set out to see the world. Years later, settling down in the historic city of York, she completed a diploma in Children's book illustration gaining a distinction. It was after this that she turned to using her camera, scanner and photoshop.

Working with pencil, sketchbook, digital camera, scanner and photoshop I create hand finished Digital Photomontage . My current work is called 'Factory and Flowers' and is inspired by a trip to Salts Mill and the David Hockney exhibition '20 Flowers and some other bigger pictures'. I collect 19th century photographs, antiquities, dried leaves/dead insects and feathers and photograph old walls, grids, furniture, doors and crumbling paintwork and using my flatbed scanner and Photoshop I start to build my image. Mood, colour and light play a big part in the final piece and I create layer upon layer to get the effect I am happy with. Sketchbooks, drawings and paintings accompany my work. The final images are printed on museum heritage archival paper and often hand finished using gold leave, paint or pen and inks.
