I create surreal collages made with photos of homegrown Brum flora — for: plant lovers, country, city souls and expats. WHY? "Because Brum is BEAUTIFUL"

Hi, I’m Sandra — a Birmingham-based Black female surrealist, making cheeky, bold, and bostin’ collages that get people talking (and maybe a little jealous). I’m best known for my digital botanical creations, blending homegrown flowers with snapshots of Brum’s streets and architecture.

After more than a decade in the Contour Industry, I swung back to my first love — art — during the COVID-19 pandemic. That moment reignited my passion for visual storytelling, rooted in personal experience and an eye for the overlooked beauty in everyday life.

My style has been shaped over months of trial and error, and further refined through a fabulous portfolio review with art curator Ruth Millington and Owen De Vissor, owner of Lux Gallery, during my Get Gallery Course.

Alongside honing my creative voice, I’ve invested time into researching the best papers, printers, and packaging — not only to present my art at its very best, but also to reduce my carbon footprint. Supporting local UK companies, including independent jewellery makers, is an important part of that journey.

Floral crowns are my signature motif: tiny reminders to slow down, notice, and appreciate the details we often miss. I fuse candid, textural photography (shoutout to Terry O’Neill vibes) with delicate, romantic botanical influences à la Mary Delaney. The result? Surreal collages where realism flirts with whimsy, and city streets meet flower beds in unexpected harmony.

Every piece is an invitation to pause and see the familiar in a new light — whether it’s a flower you’ve grown yourself or a street corner you walk past every day.

This isn’t just a passion project for me — it’s a lifestyle. My work is rooted in my love of creating happy, positive, joyful art, and it’s my way of sprinkling a little calm, wonder, and inspiration into everyday life. And, of course, showing the world why? Because! "Birmingham is BEAUTIFUL."
