Charlotte Stephenson Cumbria, United Kingdom
I'm an oil painter based in Cumbria (North West UK) using impressionist techniques to explore fashion, urban environments, the human figure and manmade textures.
My name is Charlotte Stephenson and I'm an oil painter from Cumbria. My work draws technically from nineteenth century French painting, with Berthe Morisot as a particular influence, using historical painting techniques to mimic a spectrum of textures from marabou feathers to LED lights to cracked concrete. Thematically, the content of my work is inspired by contemporary fashion photographers including Petra Collins and some filmic influences such as David Lynch. I am also a co-founder of Eyesores Collective alongside fellow Cumbrian oil painter Xanthe Tilzey. Our collective aims to spotlight and support emerging visual artists in Cumbria and across the North-West and we regularly publish articles and Instagram on our Substack blog.
