    I am currently producing work that is a a combination of paintings and mixed media relief pieces that combine embroidery, paper clay, precious metal clay, paper, watercolour, ink and found objects. Each piece is accompanied with a poem about and as a response to the physical work. I also work as a development librarian.

    Claire Troughton's Jewellery is inspired by the fragility of nature, the romanticism of the sea and the mythical stories she heard in childhood. She creates tiny treasures focusing on the little details and patterns of natural forms she notices while walking her beloved dog. Working in silver and gold she aims to produce pieces which are easy to wear as well as to admire and love.

    I am a graduate professional artist with BA Fine Art First Class Honours 2006. I'm inspired by the landscape and create work that abstracts what I see and experience. Often working en plein air I create dynamic & colourful compositions. I'm inspired by abstract expressionism with rapid expressive mark making & striking colours of Fauvism.     I was born in London. I work from my studio in S-W Scotland to produce mostly Modern Mosaic and Mixed media pieces. I have a background in Painting and Sculpture, holding a First Class Honours Dip. A. D. and Post-Graduate Commonwealth Award for Sculpture to India. I formed Kate Anderson Mosaics in 2002, and am a professional member of the British Association for Modern Mosaic.

    Exploring the exciting properties of encaustic beeswax has been my passion for several years. First used by Ancient Egyptians as a painting medium, it saw a resurgence last century and has continued to flourish. Still relatively unknown in Europe, but once discovered, never forgotten. When I first took up my brush and dipped it into molten wax and pigment I knew I was hooked!
