Charlotte Stephenson Cumbria, United Kingdom
Impressionist painter based in Cumbria, UK
I am an oil painter based in Cumbria, UK. My work draws techniques from French impressionism to render dreamlike scenes and figures with connections to my own life. One of my major inspirations is the impressionist painter Berthe Morisot, and I often refer to her work to inform my use of colour and brushwork. Morisot is also a great inspiration thematically as I am drawn to her quiet portrayals of women, clothing and everyday life. My work has been exhibited in Shipping Brow Contemporary 2026 as well as appearing in Tongues of Stone Zine, Blood Orange Zine, Onsett, Gravy Magazine and the Build Hollywood billboard project in Bristol. I founded Eyesores Collective in 2025 alongside oil painter Xanthe Tilzey to showcase work by rurally based artists in Cumbria. My painting 'Friends' is due to appear in the Ferens Open 2026 exhibition in Hull this Autumn.
