I am a textile artist living near the coast and influenced by the rough weather and the wonderful colours of the sea and the moors . I have a studio -- The Black Cat studio and like to do series of works based on the landscape and the seasons . Also climate change , with a big collection now of felted wall hangings all depicting the effects of weather patterns.

Retired now from teaching art and design in Newcastle for many years . My studio is in the garage but has wonderful views of woods and fields , so there is much to inspire and too many distractions ! I like to experiment with different techniques -- having dome many classes , on dying fabrics , making papers , printing and felt making . But ideas abound and sketch books are full . I also write poetry and quite a lot relates to the art work . Over the years I have exhibitions both locally and international ly. Also participated in Open Studios for may years . It is even better when one can work with other artists and I have been fortunate in having two friends who are like minded and we some times work on a theme and exhibit together when we can . We did a round Yorkshire tour with the theme of commemorating the first world war with some other artists .and lots of wonderful stitched hangings . Given time ! I long to get back to painting and exploring the techniques of painting with cold wax.
