Deborah Hillyar is a multidisciplinary artist from the UK, working across painting, collage, print and textiles. Her career in textile design now informs her current art practice where she uses mixed media techniques to create bold and colourful abstract artworks.

Using a combination of painting, print and collage my work explores the pattern and variation of repeated geometric forms. My work considers how the relationships changes between colour and the individual elements, when shapes are repeated, changed, layered and rearranged. My process balances intuition and deliberate composition with colour, pattern and the eclectic nature of the found materials, all playing an important role in the development of the work. The past life of the vintage paper gives meaning and vitality to the works, through the past human connections that they hold.
