EMAN KHALIFA London, United Kingdom
  Back to profiles

Egyptian–British–American artist based in London, I explore memory, transformation, and belonging through oil, acrylic, and mixed media. My work bridges classical techniques with experimental processes, from fluid pours to custom pigment alchemy, creating bold, emotionally charged pieces that invite reflection and connection.

My practice spans painting, mixed media, and experimental approaches to materiality. I work across oil, acrylic, and bespoke pigments, layering surfaces to explore themes of memory, transformation, and the emotional resonance of color.

Rather than treating paint as a neutral tool, I often create my own pigments using mica powders, metallics, and glazing mediums, transforming material into metaphor. This “alchemy” sits at the heart of my practice, positioning the very substance of painting as part of its meaning.

My work moves fluidly between abstraction and realism, from expressive seascapes to geometric cityscapes and intimate still lifes. I see art as a form of excavation — each piece a dialogue between intuition and intention, revealing hidden forms through layering, scraping, and reworking.

I have exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, including at Boomer Gallery, Parallax Art Fair, Untitled Artist, Art Basel, and Fronteer Gallery. My work has been featured in Artist Close Up Magazine and received critical recognition from curator Lee Sharrock.
