Emily Hawes West Sussex, United Kingdom
  Back to profiles

I am an artist and educator based in Worthing working with 8mm & 16mm analogue film. My films unearth the interconnections between places, people, histories and ecologies.

My practice is shaped by fieldwork and engagements with various sites, collections and places. My films are experimental and braid poetic, embodied and speculative forms of storytelling. My work unfolds slowly and I am often drawn to stories or subjects which occupy the peripheries or edges. Recently, I have been hand-processing film at home, using alternative photochemical developers such as caffenol (supported by bursaries from a-n and Curatorspace).
