Fae Kilburn Staffordshire, United Kingdom
I print on different surfaces including papers, fabrics and wood, often creating artworks to be physically engaged with by the public. I’ve had commissions, fellowships and residences which have helped develop my practice.
I’m a socially engaged artist and arts facilitator, specialising in printmaking, my art is both research and process driven: incorporating text, narrative, and imagery, interwoven in a multidisciplinary visual language. My work is inspired by history, identity and disability. At times it is autobiographical, and often includes the lived experiences of other disabled people. Becoming an ongoing collaboration between their narrative and my artistry. Creating disability awareness is an important part of my practice, which often manifests in tactile pieces designed to be handled.
I have exhibited regularly in the UK, and thanks to grants from Arts Council England worked internationally as artist in residence in Canada, this led to further residencies and exhibitions.
