David Lawrence Fry Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom
I've always loved painting since first at school then art college in the 1960's . After college I made my living working full time in ceramics running my own studio, I'm now retired from full-time ceramics and spending time painting. I've always loved working with a lot of colour in both ceramics and painting as an expression of what I see.
Throughout my entire career, my primary language has been colour. I love working with bold, saturated palettes that bring energy and emotion to the surface. A local art group has given me the opportunity to work directly from models, using the human figure as a fresh starting point for my art expression. I view all subject matter functions as a landscape; whether I am painting a sweeping vista or the contours of a human body, I am always exploring the geography of the form through colour. Working mainly in Oils and mixed media on board, canvas and paper.
