Ellis Kay Morgan Derbyshire, United Kingdom
I am an emerging artist and trainee Art Therapist based in the Midlands, UK. Working through a dual lens, my practice explores the interplay between personal experience and wider social structures that shape our identities and possibilities. I am drawn to the quiet power of textiles: the stories it holds, the memories it carries, and meanings embedded in the weave of the cloth.
My practice sits at the intersection of art and therapeutic inquiry. As an emerging artist and trainee Art Therapist based in the Midlands, I work with a dual attention to the personal and the political—foregrounding lived experience while critically engaging with social structures.
Rooted in textiles and handmaking, my work embraces slowness, repetition, and care. I am drawn to the material language of cloth—its capacity to hold memory, to carry stories, and to offer repair. Through stitching, mending, and layering, I explore themes of identity, survival, and transformation. Making becomes both a site of resistance and a space for reflection, where what is often unseen or unspoken can be brought into view.
