    I'm a 53 year old Artist from Yorkshire, i Love to paint what is in my head. I do occasionally like to paint a portrait, usually a personality from a band. Having suffered with my mental health issues i find it a personally tailored therapy that seems to work well. I would like very much to share my paintings.

    I grew up in Zambia, studied Classics and Education at St. Mary’s University in London, and later graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a B.A. Honours in Fine Art. As teacher and artist, my interests have often overlapped. I have exhibited in many English and European cities, as can be seen in my CV on this website.     Amy Sterly is originally from Chicago and received a B.F.A. in drawing and sculpture from Rockford College, Illinois in 1986. She moved to the U.K. in 1989 and has since exhibited throughout the UK, Europe and the USA. She is exploring ways of using domestic objects to make prints and installations. Collaborations and public interventions are an important aspect of her practice.

    During total isolation, in lockdown, I painted over a 164 artworks up to date. I also took up meditation which allowed my imagination to flow again. It was cathartic and eased the trauma from what was happening in the outside world. Life is returning back to what was before, but with a greater sense of appreciating family and friends, united.

    My work pulls from autoethnography , using lived experience alongside academic literature to tell a story and grasp audiences. I aim to be relatable and direct in order to address the culture we are in. I prefer my work to be accessible, this means audiences of any and all backgrounds can engage with my work. I feel a picture can speak a thousands words.
