FELICITY PRAZAK London, United Kingdom
Felicity engages in community work, reaching out to people who are isolated, vulnerable, and lack confidence in their artistic abilities. Felicity believes everyone can be creative and guides them in steps how to achieve beautiful artwork giving them a sense of belonging and tearing down barriers that previously stopped them previously painting. Felicity's motto is 'there are no mistakes in art'.
Felicity taught Art in Secondary School for over 27 years. Much of this time she worked abroad and experienced different cultures. which she fully embraced. Since Covid-19 she has pioneered work with various community groups doing commissioned murals and workshops. Felicity is a natural teacher, enjoying the process of imparting her skills and knowledge and loves to see the outcomes of those she teaches. She also teaches on board cruise liners and gets to travel and draw the world.
Over the last two years, Felicity has developed a new technique of layering stencils to create magical and imaginative artworks that everyone can do as no skill in painting or drawing is required. The stencils are layered, allowing for drying time between each layer to build up the image. This gives a near 3D effect and keeps you looking at the artwork, discovering more and more in the hidden layers. Felicity would like to experiment and develop this technique further as she believes no one else is exploring stenils as she is.
Felicity will often revert to watercolours or simple gel pen drawings to capture the fleeting moment when out in the plein air. Her sketchbook is her camera, which she believes captures the scene in front of her candidly more than a realistic photo would. Felicity loves all media, from watercolours, acrylics to oils and the discovery of posca pens to splash across a drawing giving movement to a rapid river flowing.
Art is essential to our lives, for our well-being, our creativity ands so that we can grow. It gives an understanding and appreciation of nature and our lives are enriched by every brushstoke we make.
