Fiona Grimshaw Art West Yorkshire, United Kingdom
My art is about bringing imagination to life through abstract and semi-abstract pieces. I work mainly with mixed media, using acrylic paint and inks, building up layers of paint, texture, and intuitive markings. I love experimenting with marks and I enjoy creating small details within large paintings. Nature is my greatest inspiration.
I paint from home in West Yorkshire, in my small studio/office, where I am also a graphic designer. I love landscapes and experimenting with textures and layers. Mostly, when I start I have a rough idea in my head but then end up intuitively creating.
There is so much beauty right in front of us, and the natural world continues to guide my thoughts and creative process. Through my art, I hope to take you on a journey. I want you to feel something - an emotion, a memory, a sense of healing or strength, a quiet calming connection. This is what I feel when I paint, and I want you to feel it too. My landscapes are not actual places, but are based on places I have been. I'd like you to open your imagination and relate those pieces to places you have been and experienced, meaning I hope you can look at my art and discover your own story reflected back at you.
