Gigi Francis London, United Kingdom
I am a London-based visual artist exploring identity and duality, often using recycled materials. My practice navigates intersections of belonging as an immigrant, womanhood after motherhood, neurodivergence and mental health, expressing the creative tension and harmony in these layered aspects of my daily life.
My work often features recurring figures, used to explore duality, closeness and separation. It reflects my experience of neurodivergence, parenthood and marriage, and the ongoing effort of balancing different roles and expectations. Dark, muted tones are used to express the weight of everyday life and periods of low mood, while bright colours point to moments of joy, connection and memory. Working across abstract and representational approaches, I use painting as a way to process emotions and make sense of overlapping identities.
