Grace Owen Lancashire, United Kingdom
Working primarily using ink in my Lancaster-based studio, all of my artwork is created under the umbrella title; ‘The Lines of my Earth’. With a focus on drawing I explore the world around me.
I believe that the act of drawing is a way to get to know the land below our feet and immerse ourselves in the present moment, whilst, also allowing us to investigate the past. It is also a glorious way to explore your imagination and get to know your subconscious. ‘The Lines of my Earth’ is both literal and imaginative. I encourage anyone to pick up a pencil, a pen, (even a stick!) and draw - you never know what you might discover about the world and yourself.
Drawing is my safe place, but also a place of self evolution, of challenge, for me it is a visual language that is limitless.
This series of ink drawings & paintings have a focus on the local landscape and beyond (from Lancaster to Finland to Sicily to Spain) - places that I have personally experienced and had an emotional response to. What I love about landscape is how it makes me feel small, it really puts things into perspective when you’re faced with the high of Mother Nature.
