Bianca Wallis-Salmon West Yorkshire, United Kingdom
bare those teeth, unfurl those wings
Bianca Wallis-Salmon is a transdisciplinary artist who is currently working across photography, poetry, sculpture, and printmaking. Her practice serves as a mirror to her unconscious and a medium for inner revolution as she moves through a journey of healing and metamorphosis - confronting both the external environment and her own inner battles, transforming her self-perception and, in turn, the world around her.
Through performative photography Bianca employs her body to transgress personal and corporeal boundaries - looking to interspecies transformation and ancient ways of connecting to and receiving wisdom from the ‘more than human’, to explore transitional states of being and becoming. Through her spiritual and instinctive alliance of nature and the female body, Bianca challenges and rejects the identity and gender stereotypes prescribed to us by Western phallocentric discourse, drawing upon the remembrance of anthropomorphic female archetypes from mythology and folklore as a vehicle for self-reclamation, empowerment, and healing.
