Jane Fantom Derbyshire, United Kingdom
Creative expression has always been intrinsic to my life having worked with pencil, pen and ink, lino cut, oil pastel, watercolour and acrylics. After retiring in 2017 I followed my passion for mid century design restoring and selling sewing boxes internationally. I then returned to mixed media work in 2021. All my work is available as prints on request by contacting jfantom974@gmail.com
I create mixed media, sustainable landscapes using collage on birch panel taken from photographic images, textiles and acrylics. I ventured into alcohol inks last year. After working with wood previously I was keen to capture and work with the beauty of the wood grain using this medium. More recently I began using acrylics to add depth and dimension to my work. Each element is carefully chosen to create semi abstract work of an immersive nature. A playful and/or dramatic element is incorporated to create narrative. I am inspired by exploration of the High Peak moorland and beyond which provides opportunities for study of the changing light and tonality across seasons.I work intuitively from memories and dreams.
