Jasmine Mills Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, United Kingdom
  Back to profiles

Last year I graduated from Falmouth University and since I have moved into a studio at Krowji...

I am continually intrigued by woodland landscapes, whilst introducing re-occurring figures to create narratives that reflect on fairytales and folklore.

Washed, glazed, sticky layers with protruding lines that edge botanical towers reach to meet the sky. Below you may find lost figures, characters hiding, and glimpses of someone moving through the undergrowth.

I am particularly fascinated by washes that help me create abstracted night-time scenes, with dark shadows and traces of light that trail into the painting from a distance. The forest is a kaleidoscope of endless pattern, each view controlled by an enclosure of trees.
