My motivation often comes from the challenge of transforming and exploiting objects then trying to give them new uses. I enjoy keeping the original object recognisable so then it has a dual personality. Many of my projects and products have been interactive, in a residency last year I was able to create larger pieces using rope and objects that people could interactive and play with.

I have worked on many exciting commissions and projects as well as exhibiting and selling my work around the world. I have been self-employed since 2000 and my career has developed more in the Arts working on projects that have some community involvement. This has led me to develop different creative workshop activities that I can now offer. My work has always used objects as a starting point. It began more as furniture and lighting but now the work is more sculptural and it appeals to all ages due to its humour and inventiveness.

For the past 5 years I have toured my solo exhibition called “Everyday Objects” part of it includes work where I made something everyday out of ordinary objects in 2012. I shared my results online and it became the theme for the exhibition. The public seem to like the humour in my work but I do strive to strike the balance between simplicity and inventiveness. The exhibition has grown over the years and includes my lighting and furniture as well as new range sculptures made from Billy bookcases called ‘Fill Bill’
