From my garden studio in mid-Devon, I hand build and decorate ceramic pieces from stoneware clay. Decorated by hand with coloured slips, under-glazes and oxides, each one is unique. I particularly love creating quirky, characters designed to make people smile.

I create quirky, fun characters - hand building using stoneware clay. There are decorated with home made slips and then fired to bisc temperature. The next process is to use black copper oxide and wash back. This lets the black settle into any grooves/lines/marks etc I've put onto the surface of the piece. Then I fire again at a slightly higher temp. I don't generally use glaze although I'd love give a gold lustre a try.
