I am a predominantly self taught artist working across a range of textile mediums with a particular focus on weaving currently. I use a range of different size handheld or tabletop looms, mainly working with natural & recycled fibres in combination with found objects that maybe natural or manmade.

I drew constantly as a child but never quite fitted into one of the neat boxes of artistic practice at school so was never encouraged to consider an artistic career. Somehow I ended up working in healthcare for 30 years & now have the opportunity to explore textiles on my own terms. While my current work is predominantly based around weaving, I also incorporate elements of basketry, embroidery & macrame into my work as well as printing on paper & fabric. My work is often intuitive & only based on an initial choice of an often limited palette of colours &/or materials. Pieces are experiments & the process is often more important than the result. Weaving has very much become my therapy as I process ongoing visual changes due to a detached retina & its complications.
