Lola Awada London, United Kingdom
I am a multi-disciplinary artist working across different media and disciplines, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, collage and photography, more often than not combining them into a single final artwork.
Inspiration can come from anywhere but nature and the interconnectedness of everything in and with nature are my deepest inspiration. Music is another major inspiration of mine and the music I listen to when creating is a catalyst that becomes an integral part of the artwork, a "secret ingredient" of sorts. Many of the artworks I have created were born within a specific song or melody.
My work simultaneously straddles nature, humanity, spirituality, magic, fantasy and "harsh realities" but I am a firm believer in Dostoyevsky's saying that "beauty will save the world," and always aim to create a visually appealing final result. My hope is that anyone who looks at my work will feel a rush of positive energy and an awakening of their sense of wonder. I do not seek to shock, I seek to soothe.
I am always experimenting with new techniques and new ways of creating artwork and enjoy collaborations with different artists immensely.
I run regular mixed media art workshops and also often run bespoke workshops (one-offs or regular ones over a specific period of time) as part of different projects or for different organisations.
