Artist with contemporary glass and craft practice based in York , completed an MA in Glass and Ceramics in Sunderland University. Creating woven glass pieces and referring to women's relationships to textiles and to the sphere of Domestic work. Creating sculptures and fused glass pieces and performatively using glass; filming the utilisation of glass in mark making.
Liz O Connell is an emerging artist with Irish and Yorkshire heritage , through her research into her family’s links with textiles she creates visual sketchbooks and film and photographs. Liz explores domestic narratives by making glass textiles and using them performatively, exploring complex ideas about gender and ‘invisible’ work . As well as sculptural pieces she reappropriates domestic detergents and materials; using glass cloths and subverting domestic chores by filming the process and creating film stills and canvases.
