Mark Brereton is a contemporary Graphic Artist who uses playful and satirical imagery with undertones of horror and terror. His work and skills have been used in commissions, exhibitions, and private collections across the globe. His themes explore psychology & magic and spirit & science. All of these themes come together in the everyday consciousness of life.

After leaving high school Mark embarked on his Art education at Newcastle-Under-Under College where he studied Art & Design across multiple courses gaining two BTEC qualifications in Art & Design, and Design Crafts. He then decided to explore the UK further and was accepted to study HND Three Dimensional Design at Northbrook College Sussex. Wanting to progress his study further Mark came to study BA Hons Creative Imaging at the University of Huddersfield, although after a year he didn’t like the course and so transferred to complete his degree in Graphic Design at Staffordshire University. Mark then explored a more Fine Art direction and undertook his MA Digital Arts course at Camberwell College, London. Mark’s work is heavily inspired from his childhood years, the industrial urban landscapes Mark grew up in, and his current mind and body health. These all play an entwined factor throughout his Artworks and ongoing practice. The early part of Mark’s childhood was traumatic and dysfunctional, (due to abusive family behaviours) and so he would try to find comfort and peace through drawing and playing Video Games. You can still see the influences of these through Mark’s playful approach and final Artworks. His themes and subjects often cross boarders, exploring Folklore & Fantasy, Science & Spirit, and Magic & Psychology. Mark often uses paper, card, photography, and digital art to create artworks using techniques such as drawing, painting, graphic design, and collage. Mark now creates Art for personal and commercial sales, exhibition, commission, and live performance art.
