I am a hand embroiderer, illustrator and writer whose practice is beginning to include zines and comics as well as prints and embroidery. My focus is on memoir, mental health, folk (art), and language.

My work more often than not features words; I stitch words in books, stitch books, stitch words on clothes, and antique textiles. I am beginning to incorporate my hand embroidery into the comics medium, together with a drawing practice.

Themes in my work include women's history, romance, mad studies, the natural world, the history of embroidery, autobiography, fairytale, language, and fashion.

In addition to my personal practice, I lead workshops and events. Participatory events have included diagnosing a replica of Freud's couch with a personality disorder with the help of the general public, a "choose your own adventure" story intergenerational quilt, a talk at Tate Britain on embroidery and mental health, and stitch-ins celebrating women's protest.
