Ailsa Read is a contemporary seascape artist, painting both in oils or mixed media. A graduate of Leeds College of Art with an MA in creative practice and a PhD in Practice-based Art.

Ailsa's practice is based on the sea and all its moods. She lives and works in Yorkshire and her inspirations are from the coasts of the North Sea, Northumberland and Cornwall, her painting are in oil or mixed media. She has exhibited in Yorkshire and the Affordable Art Shows in London as well as Dublin, Rutland and New York State, USA.

Her Practice-based PhD concentrated on the investigation of using laser cut images to portray the marginalised and persecuted in society.
