Tim Shore Derbyshire, United Kingdom
I am a visual artist living in Derby, I work with moving image, site-specific installation, drawing and books. I'm interested in the histories and narratives of the marginal, ephemeral and overlooked, and how luck, chance and anxiety can be embodied in my work.
I've created film and installation work about; the writing, production and dissemination of the ‘Unabomber manifesto’; Charles Dickens’s ‘nightwalks’ through Clerkenwell in London; the lives of paupers living in the Workhouse, in Southwell, Nottinghamshire; and the hidden story behind the facade of 27 Queen Street, Derby, the former home of John Flamsteed, the first Astronomer Royal.
From 2016 to 2018 I took part in Document, a CVAN East Midlands project that documented the lives and creative practice of six East Midlands artists.
Since 2016 I've been making small edition artist books and exhibiting them at book fairs in the UK and internationally. In 2018 I exhibited work at the inaugural Malmö Artist’s Book Biennial in Sweden, and Exercise book, a hand-drawn artists’ book, was selected for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2018. My exhibition Derby Mean Time opened at Pickford’s House, [Derby Museums] in September 2019.
Recently I've made work for two mail art projects: Claudia de la Torre’s BOOKS ARE BRIDGES project for backbonebooks, and Linda Parr’s Postcards for Perec project for the BABE21 'Lost Weekend' [17-18 April 2021].
