Art Crit Open Call for Emerging Artists
Deadline: 31/08/2024City: London | Country: United Kingdom | Lina A
ROAM Crit is an artist led initiative to provide emerging artists with accessible art crits. Our crits are for artists either without a formal education or those already outside of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree.
What to expect from an art crit?
The group crit will be held in London, UK, on Saturday, the 14th of September, in Hackney Studio Space in East London, E5.
We will start at 1 pm, have a break around 3 pm and finish by 6 pm.
Our group crits are usually under 10 people.
We will try to accommodate all artists who apply for a crit with us.
However, the spaces are limited to 10 people per crit.
We might schedule you in a different group if your work resonates with the team, and you will be able to present at a later date.
If you are chosen, we will contact you to confirm your availability for the crit date and ask you to bring your work for the group discussion.
Artists bring one work/project they would like to present, and each artist has 20-30 minutes to get feedback from the group and crit leaders.
The format is less intimidating than a portfolio review, and you get a variety of feedback from a group of your peers.
Accepted: photography, video, sculpture, painting, mixed media (but not limited to).
We will prioritise artists with a research-based practice and curate the crits so we can have a diverse range of work.
Your work will be professionally photographed and shared in the artist spotlight as well.
All UK artists are welcome to apply.
The deadline to apply is August 31st.
The programme is completely artist-led and started due to our own need for feedback on current projects.
The art world outside of a degree can be isolating and confusing before you make connections and establish your own artistic practice.
We bring together a multidisciplinary group of creatives and provide a space for conversation and organic networking.
Our team consists of artists with diverse experience in leading workshops, book launches, and educational events.
We will prioritise artists with a research-based practice and curate the crits so we can have a diverse range of work.
