Opportunities are available for artists to showcase work at Gallery 33 as part of the Gallery’s yearly art exhibitions programme. This independent high-street art gallery is committed to showcasing high-quality art which includes jewellery, ceramics, sculptures, glass, painting (all media) and printmaking. The exhibition of work is for a period of 4 months beginning in March.

These opportunities will appeal to Artists who are interested in showcasing and selling their work at a newly opened independent high-street art gallery. The opportunity allows artists to have the chance to showcase their work in a gallery, a chance to increase their audience, build networks, and support art on the high street.

Gallery 33 in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, showcases high-quality,  fresh and innovative work within the gallery.  We are looking for committed artists who wish to exhibit their work alongside other professionals and semi-professional artists for a period of four months.

It is free to enter the exhibition; if selected, a £15 fee is required to cover the installation and administration cost of your work. The commission rate charged by the gallery on sales is in line with other galleries at 40% on works for over £100 and 35% on works for £100 and under sales.

Volunteering 
The gallery offers a competitive commission rate of 20% for those artists who volunteer their time to steward in the galley for two days per month (12 hours in total).  In return, artists will receive a lower commission rate and the chance to promote their work and build networks. 

Artists also have access to a studio space free of charge which can be used during their time in the gallery.  

Tea/coffee is provided. 

Volunteers are offered the art studio workshop space at a reduced hire price of £25 per half day as part of this opportunity.

A workshop is available for artists interested in running workshops with spaces for six participants.  This opportunity is available as a stand-alone opportunity if required.  

For artists who are not in the locality of Gallery 33 but would like to take part in this opportunity, volunteer days can be condensed into an  Artist in Residency opportunity, or remote opportunities are available to those skilled in social media, blog writing or design skills.

You will have the opportunity to work with an experienced curator.  Artist applications are reviewed, and selection takes place by a panel every month; artists will be given their start from the month of selection.

On selection, a £15 artist fee is charged to cover administration and installation costs
A lower rate of 20% commission is taken by the gallery on each sale for artists committing to volunteering in the gallery for 2 days per calendar month (12 hours). If an artist is not within the locality of the gallery then other contributions such as digital marketing and administration, please include this in your application.
For no-volunteering artists, a 40% commission is charged in line with other galleries in the area.

There is no monetary payments other than on sales, but in kind opportunities are available as part of the 20% commission package.
