The Superposition is a self-organising network of artists, scientists, and makers in Leeds and one of the most productive and connected groups in the North of England. ASMbly (A(rt)S(cience)M(aker)bly) Lab is our annual pop-up studio/laboratory/workshop in Leeds city centre, facilitating cross-disciplinary collaboration between artists, scientists and makers. To complement the Lab we are organising an exhibition of exciting Science/ Technology and Art that demonstrates best practice between disciplines.

ASMbly (A(rt)S(cience)M(aker)bly) Lab  is our annual pop-up studio/laboratory/workshop in Leeds city centre, facilitating cross-disciplinary collaboration between artists, scientists and makers. ASMbly 2017 runs from Wednesday 26th July to Sunday 6th August.

The Lab is open to the public and this provides a range of crucial engagement opportunities with audiences while enabling collaborations to develop with other Lab participants. Previous ASMblys have led to the touring of SciArtworks across Europe to festivals such as Ars Electronica or to works becoming permanent installations at research facilities such as DESY Synchrotron in Hamburg.

To increase our critical audience engagement, this year we are designing an exciting programme of talks, critiques, exhibitions, workshops and hands on visitor activities to compliment our Lab activities. To this end we are looking for artworks, curiosities, objects and expriments that exemplify best practice between the fields of Art/Science/Making. While all submissions will be considered, special preference will be given to artworks/objects and experiments that have been made collaboratively between artist and scientists and/or makers.

ASMbly 2017 is proudly supported by Arts Council England Grants for the Arts and Leeds BID
