35 Chapel Walk Christmas exhibition call for submissions
“Brought to Birth”
The Christmas story is a narrative of hopeful birth in the midst of dark and difficult times. Whilst new birth brings hope and life, the process of bringing a new thing into being is so often fraught with pain and uncertainty.
As we move towards the darkest months of the year, 35 Chapel Walk is inviting artists to submit work that explores these themes for our Christmas exhibition (9th - 20th December 2019).
We welcome submissions from artists working in all media (2D, 3D, installation, video, performance, etc.) and will accept both old or new work proposed in your submission that is relevant to the theme. Also, if you are submitting a performance, video, or installation piece of work, then please get in touch to explore the practical requirements and possibilities for exhibiting your work.
Please send details of your submission for the exhibition, including images and texts explaining how your work explores the theme, “Brought to Birth”, by 17th November 2019.
There is no charge for submitting work for consideration, but we would ask for a minimum donation of £10 to cover the costs for our not-for-profit space if your work is accepted for the exhibition.
All work must be delivered ready to display e.g. paintings with hanging wire attached etc.
35 Chapel Walk is a vibrant community art space right in the heart of Sheffield City Centre. Artwork may be offered for sale with a commission of 15%. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
