Artist/Photographer Residency Opportunities at Darkroom London

We are offering the opportunity to be our artist/photographer(s) in residence for summer 2026.

We are seeking people who practise analogue photography and are looking for access to darkroom space to work on a new or ongoing body of work.

We are a well-equipped black and white darkroom - aimed at film-based photographers to work comfortably and independently.

We also run expert-led workshops. We are centrally located in Camden, central London, with excellent transport links.

Our space is fully-equipped with a choice of enlargers covering all formats (35mm, medium format and 5x4) to print resin and fibre prints, plus all equipment to develop your film.

You must provide your own paper, film, developer and wash aid (if printing fibre-based). All other basic chemicals are provided.

Details:

For three months during June, July and August 2026 you will have access to book one session per week free of charge.

You should already be proficient using a darkroom; this offer does not include tuition on how to use a darkroom.

At the end of your residency, we would love you to exhibit your work in our small gallery space, and we will give you the opportunity to present your work during one of our quarterly Lightworks soirées, encouraging dialogue on your project and supporting you in moving it to the next stage.

If shortlisted, you must be available for an interview in early May - date to be confirmed.

The fee to apply is £25.

Submission fees
